Constitution Party - Wisconsin Stands Up for Citizens' Rights and
Stands Against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

October 20, 2012 (Ripon, WI) - The State Committee of the Constitution Party of Wisconsin (CPoW) met today and voted on final passage of a resolution objecting to two sections of the National Defense Authorization Act (Sections 1021 and 1022). CPoW and the national Constitution Party supports our military and a constitutional war policy, affirming that the United States military ought to have the equipment and training to do its job. We also believe that executive branch and military prerogatives must never be elevated above the God-given inalienable rights of American citizens, particularly in the case of the NDAA, the CPoW supports the Fifth and Sixth Amendments.

Here is a portion of the resolution:

...The NDAA does not provide the citizen or legal resident alien a forum to contest the President’s declaration of enemy combatant status. Section 1021 then authorizes the President to utilize the military to detain and dispose of those U.S. Citizens and legal resident aliens according to the Law of War, including:

1) Indefinite detention without charge or trial until the end of hostilities;

2) Prosecution through Military Commission, or

3) Transfer to a foreign country or entity; and

WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States is the organic law recognizing our individual rights and freedom and the basis of our Constitutional Republic; and

WHEREAS, the indefinite military detention on the basis of suspicion, without trial of any person, including US Citizens, can be allowed by Sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA); and...
